Culvert repairs require Highway 76 to close near Caledonia beginning Aug. 23

ROCHESTER, Minn. – Crews will close Highway 76 north of Caledonia between Houston County Road 20 and Highway 44 Aug. 23–27, from 6:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. each day, while crews replace seven culverts, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Local residents who must access a location within the closed area of Highway 76 may do so. All other motorists should be prepared to follow the detour route.

East on Houston County Road 20, then south on Highway 44, which turns back into Highway 76.

The work is expected to be completed by Friday, August 27. In the event of inclement weather the project completion may be delayed.

The culverts are being replaced to prepare for a resurfacing project on Highway 76 during the 2011 construction season.

MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
