Expect intermittent delays on Interstate 35 Aug. 11-12

ROCHESTER, Minn. — Motorists can expect nighttime delays Aug. 11 - Aug. 12, when Interstate 35 near Owatonna closes intermittently while crews place beams for a new bridge over the road, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Lanes in both directions will close for up to 15 minute intervals beginning at 11 p.m. and continuing to 5 a.m. each day.

Work on I-35 is part of the three-year reconstruction of Highway 14 from Waseca to Owatonna which also includes building a new interchange at I-35 and Highway 14.

Mathiowetz Construction Co., Sleepy Eye, Minn., is the prime contractor for the $51.8 million project. Work is expected to be completed by June 15, 2012.

MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
