Lane closures on Highway 52 in Goodhue County begin Aug. 9
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Motorists will encounter intermittent single-lane traffic on the northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 52 between Highway 60 (about two miles south of Zumbrota) and Highway 57 (Hader) beginning Monday, Aug. 9, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The closures are necessary as crews make safety improvements along Highway 52. The project will be completed before the Labor Day holiday, weather permitting.
When the project is completed, motorists will experience a safer highway with two new acceleration lanes and increased length of two left-turn and two right-turn lanes. The increased length of the turn lanes will allow motorists to begin braking within the turn lane rather than on the mainline of Highway 52.
Valley Paving, Inc., is the prime contractor for the $389,130 construction project.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
