Lane closures begin August 2 on the Interstate 90 bridge over the Mississippi River near La Crescent
ROCHESTER, Minn. — Motorists will encounter temporary lane closures on the Interstate 90 bridge over the Mississippi River near La Crescent, beginning Monday, August 2, as crews conduct a routine in-depth inspection of the bridge, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The inspection will last approximately five days, weather permitting.
The equipment needed to conduct the inspection requires a lane closure and traffic will be reduced to a single lane from 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
Crews will begin by closing the right lane of westbound I-90 on the Wisconsin side of the bridge and continue inspections toward the Minnesota side of the bridge. When this work is complete, crews will close the right lane of eastbound I-90 and move toward the Wisconsin side.
All lanes will be open each evening after the inspectors have completed their work.
Routine inspections of this bridge and other Mississippi River bridges are conducted annually and an in-depth inspection takes place once every other year.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
