Steele County Road 17 closure begins July 21 



ROCHESTER, Minn. —Steele County Road 17/52nd Avenue will close today, July 21, as crews work to build a bridge over the new Highway 14, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Steele County Road 18/ 28th Street Southwest continue on Steele County Road 18/92nd Avenue and Highway 14.

The bridge will be completed and Steele County Road 17 will open mid-July 2011, weather permitting.

The closure is part of the three-year reconstruction of Highway 14 from Waseca to Owatonna which also includes construction of a new interchange at Interstate 35 and Highway 14.

Mathiowetz Construction Co., Sleepy Eye, Minn., is the prime contractor for the $51.8 million project. The entire project is expected to be completed by June 15, 2012.

MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
