Highway 52 reduced to single lane between 19th Street and Civic Center Drive in Rochester on July 22
ROCHESTER, Minn. — Motorists will experience single-lane traffic on both northbound and southbound Highway 52 between 19th Street and Civic Center Drive in Rochester on Thursday, July 22, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Crews will power-wash and paint the pedestrian overpass over Highway 52, reducing the highway to a single lane beginning at 8 p.m. on Thursday. As the maintenance work moves across the bridge, Highway 52 in the opposite direction will then be reduced to a single lane until approximately midnight, weather permitting. Motorists traveling on Highway 52 in Rochester should expect delays and use alternate routes.
On Monday, July 26 Traffic will again be reduced to single-lane on both northbound and southbound Highway 52 between 19th Street and Civic Center Drive. Crews will need to go back to add another coat of paint on the pedestrian overpass over Highway 52.
Lane closures are necessary to accommodate the large equipment used to access the bridge and to avoid getting water and paint on passing cars. The paint will protect the bridge from environmental elements.
The bridge power-washing and painting are part of the warranty work for the ROC 52 project, which was completed in 2005.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
