Highway 52 will be single lane near 16th Street Southwest in Rochester on July 17
ROCHESTER, Minn. — Motorists will experience single-lane traffic on both northbound and southbound Highway 52 in Rochester on Saturday, July 17, when crews paint the 16th Street Southwest bridge over Highway 52, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Crews will begin by reducing northbound Highway 52 to a single lane at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday. As the painting operation moves across the bridge, southbound Highway 52 will then be reduced to a single lane until approximately 7 p.m., weather permitting. Motorists traveling on Highway 52 in Rochester should expect delays and use alternate routes.
Lane closures are necessary to accommodate the large equipment used to access the bridge and to avoid getting paint on passing cars. The paint will protect the bridge from environmental elements and improve the aesthetics on Highway 52.
The bridge painting is part of the warranty work for the ROC 52 project, which was completed in 2005.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
