Lane closures begin June 28 on the Highway 63 bridge over the Mississippi River in Red Wing
ROCHESTER, Minn. — Motorists will encounter temporary lane closures and delays on the Highway 63 bridge over the Mississippi River in Red Wing beginning Monday, June 28, as crews conduct an in-depth inspection of the bridge, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The inspection will take approximately five days, weather permitting.
The equipment needed to conduct the inspection requires a lane closure and traffic will be reduced to a single lane controlled by flaggers from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Both lanes will be open each evening after the inspectors have completed their work.
Routine inspections of this bridge and other Mississippi River bridges are conducted annually and an in-depth inspection takes place once every other year.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
