Lane closures begin June 21 on the Highway 43 bridge in Winona
ROCHESTER, Minn. —Motorists will encounter temporary lane closures and delays on the Highway 43 bridge over the Mississippi River in Winona beginning Monday, June 21, as crews conduct an in-depth inspection of the bridge, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The inspection will last approximately five days, weather permitting.
The equipment needed to conduct the inspection requires a lane closure and traffic will be reduced to a single lane controlled by flaggers from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Both lanes will be open each evening after the inspectors have completed their work.
Routine inspections of this bridge and other Mississippi River bridges are conducted annually and an in-depth inspection takes place once every other year.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
