Lane closures scheduled May 6 on the Interstate 90 bridge over the Mississippi River near La Crescent
ROCHESTER, Minn. —Motorists can expect temporary lane closures on the Interstate 90 bridge over the Mississippi River beginning at 7 a.m., May 6, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The temporary lane closures will last approximately one day.
During the closure crews will inspect the bridge piers. The equipment needed to do the inspection requires a lane closure.
This routine inspection is part of the preparation work for the I-90 bridge replacement, which is scheduled to begin in 2012.
Crews will begin by closing the right lane of westbound I-90 on the Wisconsin side of the bridge and continue inspections toward the Minnesota side of the bridge. When this is complete, they will close the right lane of eastbound I-90 and move toward the Wisconsin side.
Carlson Professional Services from Lino Lakes, Minnesota, is the primary contractor for the inspection project.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
