Highway 52 interchange project contract awarded
ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced today that the contract for the Highway 52 “Elk Run” interchange project was awarded to Shafer Contracting Co., Inc. from Shafer, Minn.
The Request for Proposals for the Highway 52 interchange project was issued on June 3. Shafer Contracting Co., Inc. was one of five teams selected during the contractor qualification process to submit both a technical and financial proposal for this design-build best-value procurement.
Shafer Contracting Co., Inc. was the winning team with an overall best-value bid of $34.3 million.
Construction will begin in spring 2011 and work will continue until 2012.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
