Public invited to Lake City Concourse ribbon cutting ceremony Oct. 21
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Community members interested in celebrating the completion of the Lake City Concourse historic restoration project and progress of eleven other Minnesota Great River Road Historic Roadside Property Restoration Projects, are invited to a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 21.
The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at the Lake City Concourse overlooking Lake Pepin. The program includes speeches from local dignitaries, a ribbon cutting and a project tour.
In the case of inclement weather the ribbon cutting ceremony will be held in the second floor City Hall ballroom, 205 West Center Street.
The Minnesota Great River Road Historic Roadside Property Restoration Project involves 12 sites on the National Historic Register or eligible for National Historic Register status. The sites being restored were originally constructed using indigenous materials and were built largely by citizens through the Works Progress Administration. Restorations are completed using skilled historic masons and mostly indigenous materials and historic methods. The projects preserve important sites from the past and also offer current and future travelers opportunities for historic and scenic experiences.
