ROCHESTER, Minn. – All roads affected by the Interstate 90 “Bridges of Mower County” construction project in Austin will re-open by late December, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Work is nearly completed for this year, with construction slated to resume in March 2010.
Motorists can expect short-term lane closures on I-90 near Turtle Creek and Dobbins Creek during the week of Monday, Dec. 7, while crews move equipment around the project area.
In addition, a portion of 10th Place Northeast on the north side of I-90 is scheduled to close on Monday, Dec. 7, for approximately two weeks while crews redirect Dobbins Creek into the new box culvert. All businesses and residents will maintain access during the closure.
Eighth Avenue Northeast is scheduled to reopen on Friday, Dec. 11. The bike trail on the south side of I-90 near 8th Avenue Northeast is currently closed and will reopen in June 2010.
The four bridge replacements in this two-year project are a part of 31 bridges in southeastern Minnesota that Mn/DOT is building, replacing or rehabilitating in 2009-2010.
