News Release
June 2, 2008

Workzone at night

Expect delays at Highway 43 bridge in Winona

Location: Highway 43 bridge over the Mississippi River in Winona

Timeframe: Mon., June 2, through Fri., June 6, weather permitting

Traffic Impact: Daytime traffic reduced to one lane; expect delays. Traffic controlled by flaggers.

Project Information: Bridge experts from the Minnesota Department of Transportation in St. Paul will be inspecting the gusset plates on the 1941 high truss bridge.

Although the Highway 43 Mississippi River bridge in Winona was inspected last year, Mn/DOT is performing additional inspections on all state bridges with gusset plates similar to the Interstate 35W bridge in Minneapolis that collapsed last August.

Mn/DOT reminds motorists to slow down in the work zone and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones. Please join us in a safety partnership. For statewide traffic, construction and travel information visit www.511mn.org or call 511.
