Construction travel impacts

Motorists travelling between the Fargo-Moorhead area and Detroit Lakes for WE Fest should expect delays due to construction and heavy traffic volumes.

Tens of thousands of visitors will attend the WE Fest Country Music Festival at Soo Pass Ranch near Detroit Lakes.

A bridge replacement project on Highway 10 about ten miles east of Moorhead will impact travel between the Fargo-Moorhead area and Detroit Lakes. Traffic is reduced to a single lane in each direction at the Buffalo River just east of Glyndon.

Drivers may want to consider an alternate route especially on the Sunday following WE Fest.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation and Minnesota State Patrol urge motorists to:

  • Expect delays
  • Be patient
  • Prepare for sudden stops
  • Consider alternate routes
  • Avoid travelling during peak times

Heavy traffic volumes are anticipated on Detroit Lakes area highways—especially Hwy 59—from Tuesday, Aug. 5 through Sunday, Aug. 10. Motorists should prepare for sudden stops.

Other potential locations with delays on Sunday, Aug. 10 include Highway 59 near Pelican Rapids and eastbound HIghway 10 near Bluffton and Wadena.
