Corridor Study Presentation on April 16 for Hwy 27 in Alexandria
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is presenting on Tuesday, April 16, at approximately 10:00 a.m. during the 9:00 a.m. Douglas County Board meeting, to provide recommendations for Hwy 27 and I-94 corridor study in Alexandria. The presentation will be held at the Douglas County Courthouse, 305 8th Ave W. in Alexandria.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the Hwy 27 corridor for potential short and long-term improvements. Based on the combination of analysis and stakeholder input on the corridor study the project team made the following recommendations of the study area:
- Construct a roundabout at the intersection of eastbound I-94 ramps and Hwy 27 to alleviate the issues with vehicle stacking on the exit ramp and provide other long-term traffic operations benefits to the corridor.
- Provide a truck route option back to the Hwy 45 truck stop and commercial area through new signing.
- Explore new signing options on Hwy 45 to address wayfinding challenges for motorists as they approach Hwy 27 and anticipate a turning movement to enter I-94.
