Orange barrels on a highway

Expect high traffic volumes on Detroit Lakes area roads Aug. 2 – 7

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Motorists travelling in the Detroit Lakes area should expect heavy traffic volumes from Tuesday, Aug. 2, to Sunday, Aug. 7.

Tens of thousands of visitors will attend the annual WE Fest Country Music Festival at Soo Pass Ranch near Detroit Lakes.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation and Minnesota State Patrol urge motorists to:

  • Expect delays
  • Be patient
  • Prepare for sudden stops
  • Avoid travelling during peak times

Highway 34 in Detroit Lakes is under construction. Shoulder closures are possible during the week of WE Fest, but the highway remains open.

In addition, drivers may encounter delays heading to and from WE Fest at the following locations:

  • The Interstate 94 interchange with Highway 59 and County Road 88 northwest of Fergus Falls
  • I-94 in the St. Cloud area
  • Eastbound Highway 10 from Bluffton to Wadena
