Orange barrels on a highway

Hwy 59, Hwy 28 intersection work begins July 25

Highway 28 detour starts Aug. 5

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Motorists using the intersection of Highway 59 and Highway 28 in Morris will encounter lane shifts starting Monday, July 25, and will encounter a detour beginning Friday, Aug. 5.

On July 25, crews will begin preliminary work for the reconstruction of the intersection.

Signs and traffic barrels will shift traffic to one side of the intersection at a time while crews remove much of the existing pavement within the work zone. Minor delays are possible.

Beginning Aug. 5, the intersection will close and Highway 28 traffic will detour to Highway 9, County Road 1 and County Road 10. The intersection closure will last two weeks.

The work is part of the larger Highway 59 resurfacing project from Morris to the Grant County line.
