Highway 27 detour between I-94, Hoffman begins May 27
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Motorists on Highway 27 between Interstate 94 near Alexandria and Hoffman will encounter a detour when a road resurfacing project begins May 27, weather permitting.
Crews will resurface 18 miles of Highway 27 and replace several culverts on the highway.
During the project, Highway 27 will close and motorists will detour to I-94, Highway 114 and Highway 55.
Only residents who live within the road closure or motorists whose destination falls within the closure will be allowed to use Highway 27. When a road is closed it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or sentenced to 90 days in jail.
Central Specialties, Inc., of Alexandria is the prime contractor for the $6.4 million project. The road work is expected to be complete by late July.
When the project is complete, motorists will notice a smoother, safer ride along Highway 27. This project helps ensure MnDOT’s transportation system will continue to serve the state for many years.
