Orange barrels on a highway

Highway 78 lane closures underway between Battle Lake, Perham through mid-May

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures on Highway 78 between Battle Lake and Perham while crews complete work on last fall’s resurfacing and downtown Battle Lake reconstruction project.

Striping work between Perham and Battle Lake began last week.

Additionally, the following work will begin in early May:

  • Pouring concrete amenity zones within Battle Lake
  • Paving the rest area parking lots and boat landing lot along Otter Tail Lake
  • Making minor pavement repairs between Perham and Battle Lake

All work is expected to be complete by mid-May.

Last fall, crews resurfaced 26 miles of Highway 78 from Perham to Battle Lake and reconstructed a three-block section of Lake Avenue in downtown Battle Lake. As a result of the project, motorists will notice a smoother, safer ride along Highway 78 and improved pedestrian accessibility in downtown Battle Lake.
