Highway 228 railroad crossing work in Vergas begins Sept. 23
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. — Motorists on Highway 228 in Vergas will encounter a detour and possible delays when a railroad crossing project begins Sept. 23, weather permitting.
Canadian Pacific will replace the current railroad crossing.
During the project, the railroad crossing at Highway 228 in Vergas will close, and motorists will detour onto East Scharf Avenue, South Town Line Road, County Road 36, County Road 35 and County Road 4.
The work is expected to take about one week, weather permitting.
The project will result in a smoother railroad crossing.
