Orange barrels on a highway

Highway 29 road work underway near Alexandria

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. — Motorists may encounter occasional delays on Highway 29 north of Alexandria over the next two weeks.

Minnesota Department of Transportation maintenance crews will fill and patch potholes on the highway to maintain a safe surface until the road can be completely resurfaced next summer. Motorists should expect bumps, smaller holes and cracks even after the road is patched.

The work will require intermittent lane closures. Motorists should be prepared to slow down, follow the direction of flaggers and give crews plenty of room to work.

In 2014, Highway 29 from McKay Avenue in Alexandria to Highway 210 north of Parkers Prairie will be completely resurfaced along with Highway 27 from Hoffman to Interstate 94. The resurfacing projects will result in a smoother road surface on the two highways.
