Orange barrels on a highway

Main Avenue construction at Seventh Street in Moorhead begins July 30

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. — Traffic signal and pedestrian accessibility improvements on Main Avenue in downtown Moorhead continue as crews begin work on the Seventh Street intersection on Tuesday, July 30. They will also work on the southwest corner of the intersection of Main Avenue and Eighth Street.

Eastbound traffic on Main Avenue from Sixth Street through Eighth Street will experience lane closures. Sidewalk detours will also be required.

The intersection of Fourth Street and Main Avenue and the adjacent Fourth Street railroad crossing will reopen July 30. The intersection includes new signals with yellow flashing arrows. The arrows allow motorists to make a left turn after yielding to oncoming traffic.

Crews will continue work in the following areas:

  • Northbound Eighth Street between Eighth Avenue and 12th Avenue
  • Westbound Interstate 94 on-ramp

Additional information about the improvements and project updates are available at www.mndot.gov/d4/projects/downtownmoorhead.
