Orange barrels on a highway

I-94 traffic switches near Barnesville

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. — Motorists on Interstate 94 between Highway 34 in Barnesville and Clay County Road 10 near Downer are urged to use extra caution because of a traffic switch.

All traffic is now using the westbound lanes, with a single lane in each direction. Crews are resurfacing the eastbound lanes.

The Highway 9 interchange with eastbound I-94 at Barnesville is closed. Motorists will detour to the nearby Highway 34 interchange. Access to and from westbound I-94 at Barnesville is not affected.

The resurfacing project is scheduled to be complete in October, weather permitting.

When work is complete, motorists will notice a smoother ride along nine miles of eastbound I-94.
