Orange barrels on a highway

I-94 resurfacing project near Barnesville begins June 17

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. — Motorists on Interstate 94 between Highway 34 in Barnesville and Clay County Road 10 near Downer may encounter delays when a resurfacing project begins June 17, weather permitting.

Traffic will reduce to one lane in each direction during the project.

During the first two weeks, motorists will experience lane closures while crews install temporary crossovers in the median. For the remainder of the project, all traffic will shift to the westbound lanes while crews resurface the eastbound lanes.

The resurfacing project is scheduled to be complete in October, weather permitting.

When work is complete, motorists will notice a smoother ride along nine miles of eastbound I-94.
