Orange barrels on a highway

Highway 10 intersection project in Hawley begins May 20

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. — Motorists on Highway 10 in Hawley will encounter lane closures and possible delays when an intersection modification and signal project begins May 20, weather permitting.

Clay County will re-align County Road 31 and County Road 33 in Hawley. The project includes several safety modifications to the intersection of County Road 31/33 and Highway 10, including the installation of a traffic signal.

Traffic on Highway 10 will be reduced to one lane in each direction in Hawley during the project. Traffic on County Road 31 and County Road 33 will detour onto adjacent city streets.

Although work on Highway 10 will not be permitted from Friday afternoon until Monday morning each week, delays are possible this summer as people travel between the lakes area and the Fargo-Moorhead area.

All work is expected to be complete by the end of September, weather permitting.

The project will result in a safer intersection in Hawley.
