MnDOT, State Patrol urge motorists to slow down
Scattered icy spots reported around west central Minnesota
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – (10:15 a.m.) The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota State Patrol advise drivers to slow down in west central Minnesota because of scattered icy spots.
The State Patrol has received several reports of vehicles in the ditch.
MnDOT snow plow operators are doing their part to make highways safe. Crews anticipate conditions will improve during the day.
Motorists should remember to:
- Drive slowly on bridges, overpasses and tunnels.
- Use a safe speed for winter driving conditions, regardless of the posted speed limit.
- Keep a safe stopping distance from the vehicle in front of you.
- Keep both hands on the steering wheel, eyes on the road and attention on your driving.
