Railroad track removal project in Morris scheduled for Oct. 15


DETROIT LAKES, Minn. — Motorists on Hwy 9 and Hwy 28 in Morris will encounter a road closure during a railroad track removal project beginning Oct. 15.


Crews from BNSF Railway and the Minnesota Department of Transportation will permanently remove the tracks at the intersection of Hwy 9 and 10th St. on Oct. 15, weather permitting.


Local traffic may access businesses along Hwy 9/Atlantic Ave., but motorists will not be allowed through the construction site. Traffic will be directed around the site using Seventh St. East and Iowa Ave..


The road closure is expected to last one day. Additional lane closures may be needed after the tracks are removed.
