Culvert repair/replacement projects begin Oct. 2
Expect delays and flag crews near Appleton starting Oct. 2
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. — Motorists in west central Minnesota will experience delays, detours and lane closures on several Hwy s beginning Tuesday, Oct. 2, as crews begin culvert repair and replacement projects.
The affected locations include:
I-94 eastbound at the Brandon interchange—detour required
Hwy 12 between Hwy 59 and Hwy 119
Hwy 27 between Browns Valley and Hwy 117
Hwy 28 between Johnson and Graceville
Hwy 55 between Hwy 59 and Hwy 9—detour required
Hwy 55 between Hwy 9 and Hwy 75—detour required
Hwy 75 between Wheaton and Hwy 55—detour required
Hwy 75 between Dumont and Wheaton
Hwy 114 between Hwy 27 and Hwy 55
Hwy 119 between Hwy 12 and Appleton
Four of the projects will require detours. Local traffic will be allowed within detour areas, except at the culvert repair sites. Specific detour information is available below.
Traffic will be reduced to a single lane while work is in progress at all other locations. Each project outside of the detour routes will take approximately three days to complete.
Work will begin Tuesday, Oct. 2, on Hwy 119 between Appleton and Hwy 12. Additional schedule information will be released as the project progresses.

Detour Information:
I-94 at the Brandon interchange: Eastbound traffic will detour onto the exit ramp and back onto the entrance ramp. Westbound traffic will not be affected.
Hwy 55 between Hwy 9 and Hwy 75: Westbound traffic on Hwy 55 will detour north on Hwy 9 for five miles, then west on Wilkin County Road 4 for five miles and south on Hwy 75 for three miles. Eastbound traffic will follow the same detour in reverse.
Hwy 55 between Hwy 59 and Hwy 9: Westbound traffic on Hwy 55 will detour on Hwy 59 north of Elbow Lake for five miles, then west on Otter Tail County Road 26 and Wilkin County Road 4 for 26 miles and south on Hwy 9 for five miles. Eastbound traffic will follow the same detour in reverse.
Hwy 75 between Wheaton and Hwy 55: Northbound traffic on Hwy 75 will detour east on Hwy 27 at Wheaton for 16 miles, then north on Hwy 9 for 19 miles and west on Hwy 55 for seven miles. Southbound traffic will follow the same detour in reverse.
