Highway 59 project north of Pelican Rapids begins Aug. 6

DETROIT LAKES, Minn.—Motorists on Highway 59 north of Pelican Rapids will experience delays when a road resurfacing and bridge replacement project begins Aug. 6.

Highway 59 traffic will detour to Highway 34 and Otter Tail County Road 9.

Crews will replace two bridges on the east side of Prairie Lake at the same time to reduce the length of time the road is closed.

Secondary detours on Otter Tail County Road 31, Otter Tail County Road 4, 230th Avenue and 233rd Avenue will accommodate accesses located between the two bridges.

Motorists will encounter lane closures with flaggers and pilot cars during resurfacing, turn lane construction and culvert work between Otter Tail County Road 20 and Otter Tail County Road 9.

All work is scheduled to be complete in mid-October, weather permitting, and will improve mobility and safety for motorists traveling along the Highway 59 corridor.
