DETROIT LAKES, Minn.— Interstate 94 traffic will be restored to four lanes at the bridges over Douglas County Road 1 on Nov. 18, weather permitting.
Motorists may encounter brief shoulder and lane closures on I-94 and Douglas County Road 1 through the end of November while crews continue with miscellaneous cleanup work.
The project will resume in the spring to allow crews to finish work beneath the bridge decks and remove the temporary crossovers on the I-94 median. That work will require shoulder and lane closures on I-94 and Douglas County Road 1.
The bridge resurfacing and painting project began in May 2011. It was originally scheduled to be completed this fall, but was extended due to the state government shutdown in July.
The new bridge decks will prolong the life of the bridges and improve safety and mobility along the I-94 corridor.
