Interstate 94 bridge project in Douglas County begins May 31
DETROIT LAKES, Minn.—Motorists on Interstate 94 in Douglas County may encounter delays beginning May 31 when a bridge project begins. Crews will resurface and paint the eastbound and westbound bridges over Douglas County Road 1, located two miles east of the Evansville/Elbow Lake exit.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction for the first two weeks while crews build crossovers on both ends of the bridges. Traffic will then be switched to the westbound lanes while crews work on the eastbound bridge. Once the eastbound bridge is complete, traffic will be switched to the eastbound lanes while crews work on the westbound bridge.
Motorists on Douglas County Road 1 also can expect intermittent lane closures throughout the duration of the project while crews work on the undersides of the I-94 bridges.
The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-October, weather permitting.
