Various highway projects in west central Minnesota delayed due to spring road restrictions
DETROIT LAKES, Minn.—Two west central Minnesota projects that were scheduled to begin May 2 will be delayed due to spring road restrictions, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The Highway 10 resurfacing project on the eastbound lanes between Hawley and Detroit Lakes has been rescheduled to begin May 11. Eastbound traffic will be reduced to one lane in areas where crews are working. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-June, weather permitting.
The Highway 9 resurfacing project south of Morris also will be delayed. An updated construction schedule has not been determined, but the project will begin sometime after May 11. Traffic will be detoured during the Highway 9 project, which is scheduled to be completed approximately eight weeks after it begins, weather permitting.
The Interstate 94 resurfacing project on the westbound lanes between Barnesville and Downer remains on schedule to begin May 2. Westbound and eastbound motorists will experience lane closures the week of May 2 while crews install temporary crossovers in the median. For the remainder of the project, all traffic will shift to the eastbound lanes while crews resurface the westbound lanes. The I-94 project is scheduled to be completed in early July, weather permitting.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones. For statewide travel information, visit www.511mn.org, call 5-1-1 or log on to www.mndot.gov.
