FLOODING UPDATE
Highway 75 at Georgetown to close at noon today

 

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. —(9:30 a.m.) The Minnesota Department of Transportation will close Highway 75 at Georgetown today at noon due to construction of a dike on the highway by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

 

Traffic will be detoured on Clay County Road 26, Highway 9 and Highway 2.

 

Highway 75 at Georgetown will remain closed until further notice.

 

Motorists should plan accordingly. When a road is closed it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply.

 

The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota State Patrol urge motorists to drive with caution as flooding continues to affect area highways and interstates in west central Minnesota.

The following state highways west central Minnesota are currently open but conditions can change rapidly. Motorists should use extreme caution approaching the following areas:
