MnDOT invites public to March 2 meeting about Sand Lake outlet alternative
DETROIT LAKES, Minn.—The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites area residents and landowners to a public meeting Wednesday, March 2, regarding the preferred Sand Lake outlet alternative. This is a follow-up meeting to the Jan. 18 public meeting and is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Dunn Township Hall, 47979 East Lake Lizzie Road, Pelican Rapids, Minn. A presentation will take place at 6 p.m.
As the water in Sand Lake continues to rise, MnDOT is looking at ways to protect Highway 59 from future flooding. After an extensive study of the area around Sand Lake and consideration of public and environmental impacts, MnDOT and Houston Engineering have identified a preferred alternative to outlet to Prairie Lake.
MnDOT is currently developing the design and maintenance control plan for the outlet. The public is invited to the meeting to learn about how the outlet will function and discuss control plan options with representatives from state, county and local agencies.
If you are unable to attend the public meeting, contact Bridget Miller, MnDOT hydraulics engineer, with questions or comments at firstname.lastname@example.org or 218-846-3619.
To request an ASL interpreter, send a meeting notice to Inte1ASL.DOT@state.mn.us. To request another reasonable accommodation, call 651-366-4718 or 1-800-657-3774 (Greater Minnesota); for Minnesota Relay Service dial 711 or 1-800-627-3529 (TTY, Voice or ASCII). Adequate notice is required.
