BAXTER, Minn. - The Highway 10 bridge over the Mississippi River at the Little Falls bypass opened to eastbound traffic, Friday, March 26.at 5:00 p.m. today. Crews are working to open the roadway to westbound motorists by 6:00 p.m. today.
Traffic is restricted to a single lane in each direction on the westbound lanes over the bridge. Eastbound lanes over the bridge will remain closed.
The westbound ramp from Morrison County Road 76 to westbound Highway 10 will remain closed. The eastbound off ramp to Morrison County Road 76 will also remain closed due to safety concerns. Motorists should watch for signed exits.
The bridge was closed to traffic on Wednesday, March 17, due to damage from an ice jam in the main channel and erosion to the overflow bridge. Crews maintained an aggressive schedule to build temporary traffic crossovers on each end of the bridge and stabilize the westbound lanes to allow motorists on the westbound lanes of the bridge.
Emergency repair work on the bridge began Saturday, March 20, under an Emergency Order issued by the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
