March 17 open house for Hwy 10 reconstruction in Wadena

Work begins spring 2020

BAXTER, Minn. – All who travel on Highway 10 in Wadena are invited to attend an open house to learn more about the reconstruction project which will begin this spring.

The city of Wadena and MnDOT will hold the open house from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Executive Room at Maslowski Wellness & Research Community Center at 17 Fifth Street SW in Wadena on Tuesday, March 17. Guests will learn more about the 2020 project detour, see project layouts, ask questions and take home information. There is no formal presentation and guests are invited to arrive any time.

Work began in 2019 on Highway 10 to repave the road on the east and west ends of Wadena and replace underground drainage structures near Union Creek. Once complete in October 2020, the $12.4 million project will:

  • Widen and reconstruct the road
  • Improve access and traffic flow
  • Upgrade pedestrian sidewalks
  • Upgrade city storm sewers and install new LED street lighting
  • Replace the signal systems at Second Street W. and Highway 71
  • Upgrade the railroad crossings on Highway 71 and Second Street W.
