Hwy 65 resurfacing project begins with lane closures near Cambridge July 5
ST CLOUD, Minn. – Motorists who travel Highway 65 between Cambridge and Anoka County may encounter slow traffic and delays as segments of the road are intermittently reduced to a single lane during non-rush hours beginning after 7 a.m. Wednesday, July 5.
Initially, the intermittent non-rush hour lane closures will occur on both directions of Highway 65 between 305th Avenue, south of Edgewood, and 357th Ave NE, north of Cambridge.
In late-July, the existing lanes of northbound Highway 65 between 305th Avenue and 357th Avenue will close, and that segment of Highway 65 will be reduced to a single lane in each direction with head-to-head traffic on the existing southbound lanes.
Motorists who travel Highway 65 between Cambridge and Anoka County after July 4 should plan their travel, expect delays and watch for construction crews, heavy equipment and slow or stopped or traffic through fall, 2017.
The lane closures are needed as part of two-year project to improve Highway 65 between Cambridge and the Isanti/Anoka county line, located south of Isanti, near Bethel. The project will resurface the roadway, extend turn lanes, repair or replace drainage infrastructure, resurface the Highway 65/Highway 95 interchange ramps in Cambridge, make intersection improvements, upgrade signal systems and improve pedestrian accessibility.
When complete in June 2018, the project will improve the ride, drainage and safety along 14 miles of Highway 65.
