Orange barrels on a highway

Update: Lane closures on Hwy 55 between Rockford, Maple Lake extended through May 23

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Motorists traveling Highway 55 between Rockford and Maple Lake may encounter delays as the road is intermittently reduced to a single lane during non-rush hours at several locations through Friday, May 23.

The closures began May 7 and were originally scheduled to be complete by May 14. The completion date has been extended due to rain and saturated soils.

The closures will occur from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays on Highway 55 one-half mile west of Rockford at Gabler Avenue Southeast; on Highway 55 two-and-a-half miles east of Maple Lake between Crowfoot Avenue Northwest and Colbert Avenue Northwest, near Sullivan Lake; and at several other locations while crews repair shoulders and slopes washed out during recent rains.

Flaggers will allow one-way, alternating traffic through the daily work zones. Motorists should slow down and prepare to stop as they approach the daily work zone, and must obey flaggers and signs as they navigate each work zone.

When complete, the project will stabilize off-roadway infrastructure and improve safety along each segment of the highway.
