Hwy 10 lane closures, local road closures in Rice
Interchange project enters final year of construction
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Motorists travelling Highway 10 and County Road 2 in Rice may encounter delays as the first in a series of lane closures, road closures and detours on Highway 10 and local roads began Monday, April 14.
The first closures are as follows.
Eastbound Highway 10 will be reduced to a single lane. All lanes of eastbound Highway 10 will be open in early-May when all four lanes of Highway 10 are switched to temporary bypass lanes.
A short segment of County Road 2/West Main Street will close just west of Highway 10. A signed detour will direct motorists between Highway 10 and downtown Rice using County Road 31/North Division Street. This segment of County Road 2 will reopen in early- May.
Motorists travelling through Rice should plan their travel in advance, allow additional time for travel and should slow down and be prepared to stop as they approach the work zone.
The closures are needed as part of the new Highway 10/County Road 2 interchange project. When complete, the project will increase safety and mobility by replacing the current signalized intersection with a full interchange, extend acceleration lanes and improve local roads and utilities.
MnDOT, the city of Rice and Benton County worked together on this project to develop the safest and most cost effective project for the public.
