Highway 71 to Interstate 94 detour begins July 23
Intermittent lane closures on I-94 also scheduled
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Motorists traveling in Sauk Centre will encounter temporary traffic changes beginning Monday, July 23, while crews do maintenance work on the Highway 71 bridge spanning Interstate 94.
The left turn lane from northbound Highway 71 to westbound I-94 will be closed, and a detour will direct motorists along 12th Street, to Stearns County Road 72/Beltline Road and back to westbound I-94.
Additionally, lane shifts will occur on the Highway 71 bridge, and intermittent I-94 lane closures will occur, as required, throughout the project.
Crews will repair the bridge deck, replace guard rail and repair the approaches to the Highway 71 bridge. The project will be complete by late September, weather permitting.
When complete, the project will increase safety, preserve the bridge and improve ride quality.
Motorists are reminded to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
