Highway 23 closure in east St. Cloud extended to May 10

Detour remains in place

 

 

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - Motorists will continue using a detour on Highway 23 in east St. Cloud from Wilson Avenue to Lincoln Avenue through Thursday, May 10, at 6 a.m.

 

Inclement weekend weather delayed the project progress.  Forecasted additional rain during the next three days may add further delays to opening this roadway.  

 

Traffic is detouring via Wilson Avenue, East St. Germain Street and Lincoln Avenue. To view the detour, visit www.mndot.gov/d3/newsrels/11/detours/hwy23detour2011pedbridge.pdf.

 

The closure is necessary for crews to relocate utilities under the road.

 

The work is part of the pedestrian bridge replacement project just east of Wilson Avenue that began April 30. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by the end of August, weather permitting.

 

MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
