Rural intersection overhead lighting installation begins April 30
Sixteen intersections in nine central Minnesota counties
BAXTER, Minn. — Motorists should plan for minor traffic delays and shoulder closures at rural highway intersections in nine central Minnesota counties beginning Monday, April 30, as crews install overhead lighting.
All intersections are scheduled to be complete by June 22, weather permitting.
Design Electric Inc. is the prime contractor for the $180,000 project, which includes 16 intersections at:
Cass County
- Highway 6 and Highway 200
- Highway 200 and Highway 84
- Highway 84 and Highway 87
- Highway 87 and Highway 371, south junction
- Highway 87 and Highway 371, north junction
- Highway 87 and Highway 64
Stearns County
- Highway 71 and Highway 28
Todd County
- Highway 71 and Highway 27
- Highway 27 and Highway 28
Morrison County
- Highway 27 and Highway 25
Crow Wing County
- Highway 6 and Highway 18
Aitkin County
- Highway 169 and Highway 18
Mille Lacs County
- Highway 47 and Highway 18 in Mille Lacs County
Kanabec County
- Highway 65 and Highway 27
- Highway 23 and Highway 47
Pine County
- Highway 23 and Highway 107 in Pine County
Lighting rural intersections at night improves safety by helping motorists see they are approaching an intersection, according to MnDOT.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
