Traffic Switch for the Hwy 10 resurfacing project from Clear Lake to Big Lake begins April 4
ST. CLOUD, Minn. — Motorists traveling on the westbound lanes Highway 10 between Clear Lake and Big Lake will encounter a traffic switch to the eastbound lanes of Highway 10, resulting in a single lane of traffic in each direction, beginning Wednesday, April 4, as crews begin this road resurfacing project.
Work includes resurfacing 14 miles of westbound Highway 10 to preserve the lifespan of the road and create a smoother ride for motorists. The project also includes extending turn lanes at various intersections to enhance safety, paving shoulders and repairing or replacing culverts.
The project begins two weeks earlier than anticipated, due to the mild winter weather, and is scheduled to be completed by early August.
PCI Roads of St. Michael, Minn., is the prime contractor for this $13 million project.
Motorists are asked to expect delays when driving through the work zone and to take alternate routes, if possible.
During construction and road maintenance work, the Minnesota Department of Transportation urges drivers to:
- Check www.511mn.org or call 511 for up-to-date information about traffic and road conditions.
- Watch for construction crews and equipment in the work zone.
- Follow posted speed limits; fines double in work zones.
- Plan ahead and expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Stay alert; expect the unexpected.
