Road preservation project slated for area highways
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Motorists should plan for traffic restrictions and lane closures on area highways as crews complete preventive maintenance seal coating projects to extend the life of the pavement surface on Hwys 23 and 70 in Stearns and Kanabec Counties on Wednesday, June 15.
The highway segments scheduled for the preventative maintenance include:
- Hwy 23 from the junction with Hwy 55 in Paynesville to just west of Richmond in Stearns County
- Hwy 70 from the junction with Hwy 65 to the junction of Hwy 107 in Kanabec County
During the work, a pilot car and flaggers will control traffic, and motorists should plan for daily lane closures in the area where crews are working. Drivers are urged to slow down and be alert for loose gravel and oil spraying in these areas. Crews will be working during daylight hours between sunrise and sunset.
Update: July 26 - Permanent roadway striping and signing to be done by mid August. All other work on this project is complete.
