Open house on Local Human Service Transit Coordination Plan set for Dec. 8
Hosted by Region 7W and St. Cloud Area Planning Organization
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The public is invited to an open house on Thursday, Dec. 8, to discuss the Region 7W and St. Cloud Area Planning Organization’s Local Human Service Transit Coordination Plan.
The open house will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Great River Regional Library located at 1300 W. St. Germain St., St. Cloud, Minn.
The purpose of the plan is to identify strategies and potential projects to coordinate transit services for the target populations of elderly, disabled and low income individuals in the Region 7W/APO areas of Benton, Sherburne, Stearns and Wright counties in central Minnesota.
Region 7W partnered with the St. Cloud APO to develop this plan to coordinate transit services offered by public transit providers, human services agencies and private providers. A project steering committee of transportation and human service agencies provided direction in the development of the plan.
Transportation providers in this area are diverse and include public transit, volunteer driver programs, specialized transportation services, taxis and private providers. Transportation services are provided by various agencies serving their clients including county social services, county public health, county veterans services and agencies serving the elderly and disabled.
The open house also kicks off the 30-day review and comment period for the plan. Questions or comments on the plan should be directed to Sue Siemers, transit project manager, at 320-223-6556 or by email to susan.siemers@state.mn.us.
