Motorists will encounter detours on Highway 71
in Wadena beginning August 24
BAXTER, Minn. - Motorists will encounter detours when crews begin resurfacing Highway 71 on Monday, Aug. 24 at 8:30 a.m. Trucks will have a different detour route than passenger vehicles.
The detour routes for passenger vehicles:
Northbound Highway 71 - east on Wadena County Road 100, north on County Road 104/Homecrest Avenue, west at Garfield Avenue, north on First Street Southeast to Colfax Avenue and west on Colfax Avenue to Highway 71.
Southbound Highway 71 - east on Colfax Avenue, south on First Street Southeast, east on Garfield Avenue, southeast at Garfield Avenue and Homecrest Avenue/County Road 104, and west at the County Road 100 to Highway 71.
The detour routes for trucks:
Northbound truck traffic - west at Hewitt onto Highway 210, north at Otter Tail County Road 75, east on Highway 29 to Highway 71 in Wadena.
Southbound truck traffic - west on Highway 29, south on Otter Tail County Road 75 and east on Highway 210 to Highway 71 in Hewitt.
The project also includes utility and street improvements from Lincoln Avenue to Franklin Avenue in Wadena.
Crews will resurface the roadway and replace curb, gutter, sidewalk, storm sewer and city utilities in the area.
The project is scheduled for completion by mid-November.
Larson Excavating Contractors, Inc., of Holdingford, Minnesota is the prime contractor for this $1.4 resurfacing and improvement project.
