Drive to 4th Avenue; Overpass at Lake George
Traffic on Highway 23/Division Street in St. Cloud will continue
using the new westbound lanes from the west end of the project
to the east side of the new Lake George bridge.
Beginning as early as next week, traffic lane changes can be expected
between 7th Avenue and 4th Avenue. 5th, 6th and 7th Avenue intersections
will be open in all directions with only temporary closures required
for the final concrete median and paving in later stages of the
project.
Washington Memorial Drive remains closed south of Highway 23
to allow for the planned construction in the intersection. Motorists
should follow the signed detour which utilizes 14th Avenue and
7th Street. This work is scheduled for completion by the end of
next week.
Westbound left turns at Washington Memorial are still prohibited
for the remainder of the project.
Westbound right turns and eastbound left turns are allowed at
all other intersections along the project.
The south side of 4th Avenue at Highway 23/Division Street is
closed to traffic to help facilitate the new eastbound traffic
lane movement.
On/off ramps at 9th Avenue South are closed to traffic. 9th/10th
Avenue traffic continues on the southbound lanes between 4th Street
and St. Germain.
The first two of three layers of bituminous on Highway 23 will
be completed by the end of next week.
Concrete curb/gutter and sidewalk is also scheduled to be completed
by the end of next week.
The Lake George bridge had the final piling operations completed
on Wednesday. Concrete footings, pier columns and caps are on
schedule to be completed by the second week in August. The west
abutment is near completion; the east abutment will have the footing
poured this Friday.
Construction operations on northbound 10th Avenue along with
the 1st Street connection is scheduled to begin on Monday.
The signal system at 7th Avenue will be completed this Friday
and the system at
Washington Memorial will start again on Monday.
Street lighting along the Highway 23 corridor is a continuos
operation, but is nearing completion.
The Highway 23 project, including the Lake George bridge, is
still on schedule to open to four lanes of traffic in early November.
Mississippi River Bridge; 4th
Avenue to Wilson Avenue
7th Street SE between Wilson Avenue and Riverside Drive will
be closed to through traffic through Friday, July 31. The closure
is necessary to facilitate utility rehabilitation work.
Highway 23 is closed from Wilson Avenue to Lincoln Avenue to
allow crews to reconstruct the Wilson Avenue intersection. This
work includes water main, storm sewer, curb and gutter, bituminous
surfacing, lighting and a new signal system.
Motorists using Highway 23 are detoured onto Lincoln Avenue to
1st Street North. Wilson Avenue will remain open during this work
and traffic will be crossing
Highway 23 on a gravel surface at the intersection. Work will
be completed by early November.
The first section of structural deck (193' 4") for span
2 over the river was poured today, Thursday, July 30. The remaining
deck pours are scheduled over the next two weeks.
Work continues at the Wilson Avenue intersection on watermain,
storm sewer and grading. Curb and gutter work will follow the
grading work east of the bridge on Highway 23.
Crews are working on retaining walls on the east side of river.
Boat traffic will be maintained on the Mississippi River during
this project.
