Drive to 4th Avenue; Overpass at Lake George
Traffic impact:
In spite of the significant rainfall this week,
there are no rain delays on this project.
Water main installation/hook up at Falcon Bank; water main tie-in
at 11th; water main service connections at 10th Avenue and 1st Street
have been completed.
Grading work continues throughout the project, concentrating on
the west end from Washington Memorial Drive to 12th Avenue and also
at the 7th Avenue intersection.
Sheet piling work continues along 9th Avenue is complete.
Removal of the eastbound portion of the Lake George bridge has
been completed.
Pile driving in the west abutment will be completed today, at which
time pier 1 pile driving will begin. West abutment footing will
be poured tomorrow. Pier 1 footing pour is planned for early next
week.
Traffic on Highway 23/Division Street in St. Cloud has switched
over to the westbound lanes. Traffic is now utilizing the newly
constructed north half of the Lake George bridge.
Eastbound left turns at Washington Memorial Drive are no longer
permitted. Eastbound motorists can turn left or go straight and
turn left at several intersections beginning with 16th Avenue. Eastbound
right turns and westbound right/left turning movements will be allowed
at Washington Memorial Drive.
The south side of 4th Avenue at Highway 23/Division Street is
closed to traffic to help facilitate the new eastbound traffic lane
movement.
The south side of 14th Avenue at Highway 23/Division Street is
closed and will remain closed throughout the remainder of the project.
On/off ramps at 9th Avenue South are closed to traffic. 9th/10th
Avenue traffic continues on the southbound lanes between 4th Street
and St. Germain
Geofoam placement is complete on the westbound on/off ramps. Remaining
eastbound Geofoam will be placed along the Lake George area in future
stages of the project.
Lighting work in the median between Washington Memorial Drive and
14th Avenue will be conducted this week. Street light base and conduit
installation continues throughout the project.
Mississippi River Bridge; 4th
Avenue to Wilson Avenue
Traffic Impact:

Beginning Monday morning, July 20th, Highway
23 will be closed from Wilson Avenue to Lincoln Avenue to allow
crews to reconstruct the Wilson Avenue intersection. This work
will include watermain, storm sewer, curb and gutter, bituminous
surfacing, lighting and a new signal system.
Motorists using Highway 23 will be detoured onto Lincoln Avenue
to 1st Street North. Wilson Avenue will remain open during this
work. Work will be completed by early November.

Decking crews are finishing decking the main bridge spans over
the river.
Grading of Riverside Drive, 4th Avenue SE to the alley connection
and on Highway 23 from the bridge to Wilson Avenue continues.
Crews nearing completion of work on walls for the bike trail
and bridge retaining wall on the west side of the river.
Crews have started placing deck rebar at west abutment and will
continue placing deck reinforcement and install shear studs for
another week.
Granite stone veneer installation has been completed for this
portion of the bridge. Crews will return to the job as soon as
railing work can begin, in about a month.
Crews are completing installation of the 16" insulated water
main for the river crossing between the girders. East approach
panel will be formed and poured after water main work is completed.
Boat traffic will be maintained on the Mississippi River during
this project.
