Washington Memorial Drive to 4th Avenue;
Overpass at Lake George
Traffic on Highway 23/Division Street in St. Cloud was switched
over to the newly constructed westbound lanes this week. A temporary
bypass around the Lake George bridge will allow for the final
construction on the north half of the new bridge.
Eastbound left turns at Washington Memorial Drive are no longer
permitted, for the remainder of the project. Eastbound motorists
can turn left or go straight and turn left at several intersections
beginning with 16th Avenue. Eastbound right turns and westbound
right/left turning movements will be allowed.
The south side of 4th Avenue at Highway 23/Division Street is
closed to traffic to help facilitate the new eastbound traffic
lane movement.
Pavement removals begin on the eastbound lanes.
Installation of a temporary traffic signal and striping began
yesterday in preparation of the traffic switch to the new westbound
lanes.
The first deck pour of the Lake George bridge was completed earlier
this week, crews will pour the approach panels today. Bridge railing
and sidewalk will be poured next week after the seven day cure
period. The deck wear course will follow. The completion of the
westbound portion of the bridge is scheduled for early July.
Paving in the area from 7th Avenue to the east side of the bridge
and 12th Avenue to the west side of the bridge and the temporary
crossovers were completed this week.
Final wear course will be paved in the last stage of the project.
Sidewalk concrete placement from 8th Avenue to the east side
of the bridge was completed today.
Geofoam placement starts on the westbound on/off ramps.
Grading of the Lake George approach panels will be completed
this week. Sidewalk grading and concrete placement continues at
various locations throughout the project.
Street light base and conduit installation continues throughout
the project.
On/off ramps at 9th Avenue South are closed to traffic. 9th/10th
Avenue traffic continues on the southbound lanes between 4th Street
and St. Germain Street.
Mississippi River Bridge

Crews will finish setting girders this week and finish decking
Span 4 this week. Installation of studs and rebar on Span 4 begins
next week.
Crews have completed removing the concrete roadway from the bridge
to 4th Avenue and will begin underground sewer and water next
week west of the bridge.
Crews continue working on walls for the bike trail on the west
side of the river.
Granite stone veneer installation continues on the west abutment.
Crews expect to have this completed by the end of June and will
then move to the east abutment.
Retaining wall on the west side of the river removal and construction
continues.
Crews are installing the 16" insulated water main for the
river crossing between the girders.
Boat traffic will be maintained on the Mississippi River during
this project.
